The new millennium sees its self in with the Dot Com crash and the destruction of the World Trade centre in New York City, it would take 15 years for it to be mostly rebuilt. We see the rise of middle class in China, the rise and fall of the UAE and for the first time most of the worlds population lives in cities. There were "bubbles" everywhere. Financially we experience the GFC from which we are still recovering. Australian practices expand deeper into China, Asia, Europe and the Middle East, signing contracts with a low Australian Dollar only for it to reach parity with the US in a few short years. Global the beginnings of the Starchitect phenomenon starts, and everything being built is an Icon. Frank Gehry appears on the Simpsons. Foster and Partners are sold to private equity investors 3i, only to be bought back again later.
Melbourne sees the Eureka Tower and the battle of height is now on, as it is globally.

The new decade brought new opportunities, I returned to Spowers this time as the Design Director, I became a shareholder. The next 15 years is broken into three different parts consisting of University and development work with Spowers as a Nation wide entity, followed by an extended period in Bahrain , Oman and the UAE. Following that it was back to Melbourne and work concentrating on education work both here and in Vietnam. It was a period that saw projects win awards in many categories. I rekindled my relationship with the Australian Institute of Architects having been invited to present at the first world environment day Lecture, I continued with an extended period on the Large Practice Committee and as member of the Commercial Awards Committee and the Chair of the Steel in Architecture Jury. It was a time of collaboration, working with ARM, Farrell's, NMBW, S333, Pentago, Emery, Henning Larson and Phooey. This was a time of some very large projects and the start of some Family houses.
